Cathay Pacific Airways is helping tourists - and local people - get a better understanding of the natural beauty and environmental diversity of Hong Kong through its sponsorship of a new DVD, Explore Wild Hong Kong!

Co-produced by Hong Kong-based marine services company Asiatic Marine and local writer, photographer and environmentalist Dr Martin Williams, the DVD is the believed to be the first video guide to Hong Kong's natural diversity, exploring the different world that exists just beyond the cityscape and bustling streets.

Presented by Asiatic Marine Director and local marine life expert Charles Frew, the 28-minute DVD takes in rugged islands, beaches, waterfalls, New Territories villages, the Kadoorie Farm, flocks of birds at the Mai Po Marshes Nature Reserve and a trip to find Chinese white dolphins. Along the way Charles meets some of the people who help to promote conservation and environmental awareness in Hong Kong.

Explore Wild Hong Kong! is already on sale at the Explore Sai Kung office and at the visitor centre at Mai Po Nature Reserve. From September it will be available in all CXcitement outlets, which include the Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office in the Peninsula Tower, the Trade Development Centre Shop in the Convention & Exhibition Centre, 80M, Nobletime Bookshop and Herpa Cafe outlets, and the online shop and duty-free preflight order site at www.cathaypacific.com. The airline will show the programme on its inflight entertainment system from October and clips from the DVD can be viewed online at www.hkoutdoors.com.

Proceeds from the sale of Explore Wild Hong Kong! will go to the Asian Waterbird Conservation Fund, which WWF Hong Kong launched in 2005 with funding from Cathay Pacific to help migratory birds in the region. Cathay Pacific has undertaken a number of environmental initiatives in recent years, including the establishment of a detailed position on climate change.
