A small plane crashed in San Bernardino, California on Oct. 5, killing the pilot flying alone.
The plane was flying from California's Long Beach to Henderson, Nevada when it crash-landed into the median divider at the Cajon Pass on Interstate 15 near Oak Hills Road in San Bernardino.
Air traffic controllers lost radar and radio contact with the single-engine Piper PA28 before it crashed, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
Gregor said the pilot died in the crash onto a hilly area between the lanes.
No lanes were closed, but television traffic reporters said the commute was slowed by gawkers.
