Southwest Airlines Transports More Passengers in Sep 2007

Southwest Airlines announced it flew 5.6 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in Sep. 2007, an 8.6% increase from the 5.2 billion RPMs flown in Sep. 2006. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 7.8% year-on-year to 8.3 billion. The load factor for the month was 67.7%, a 0.5 ppt year-on-year increase.
For 3Q 2007, Southwest flew 19.7 billion RPMs, compared to the 17.8 billion RPMs recorded for the same period in 2006, an increase of 10.8%. ASMs increased 8.2% year-on-year, while load factor was 76.5%, up from 74.7% in 3Q 2006.
For the nine months ended Sep. 30, 2007, Southwest flew 54.8 billion RPMs, a 7.7% year-on-year increase, while ASMs increased 8.2% to 74.4 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 73.7%, a 0.3 ppt reduction.
