Garuda Indonesia to Acquire Four Boeing 737-400s
Oct. 08, 2007
Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia plans to add four Boeing 737-400s into its fleets in January 2008 to boost competitiveness while awaiting the arrivals of 25 brand new Boeing 737-800NG.
The company operates 48 planes -- of which 17 belong to it -- while the first eight of Boeing 737-800s will arrive in May 2009.
"We will acquire four B737-400s in January 3008 as we are waiting for the 737-800NG," Garuda president director Emirsyah Satar was quoted as saying by Oct. 8's leading economic daily Bisnis Indonesia.
He did not elaborate on whether the 737-400s, which will serve long distance domestic routes, would arrive on lease or second-hand purchase.
