Adelaide Airport MD Becomes New Chairman of Adelaide Convention Tourism Authority

Phil Baker, managing director of Adelaide Airport, is the new chairman of the Adelaide Convention Tourism Authority.
He replaces Glenn Cooper, executive chairman of Coopers Brewery, who was at the head of the ACTA table for 10 years in which time the meetings industry has grown to become a strong economic contributor to South Australia.
Mr Cooper again warned on Oct. 16 that the recent successful performance of the convention sector could be maintained only with better marketing resources to compete against interstate and overseas rivals.
Mr Baker said on Oct. 16 that he would seek greater recognition and support for the role convention tourism played in the economic future for South Australia.
"I hope also, wearing my other hat, that I will be able to continue to push for better access by attracting more low-cost carriers and more international flights to and from Adelaide to better serve our convention business," Mr Baker said.
Long-time ACTA director Richard Green has been elected vice-chairman. Mr Green is Malaysia Airlines' manager for South Australia.
