Adelaide Airport has passed the six million passengers a year mark for the first time, as it posted a AU$4.8 million before tax profit for 2006/07.
Adelaide Airport Ltd's 2006-2007 annual report released on Nov. 1 shows 6.3 million passengers flew in and out in that 12 months.
This is 470,000 passengers or more than 8 per cent up on the previous 12 months.
AAL also reported a net pre-tax profit of AU$4.8 million for 2006-2007 from AU$126.3 million revenue.
"Our international services have led the way with a 26.5 per cent increase to 453,000 passengers, domestic services increased 6.3 per cent to 5.3 million and regional services increased 14.7 per cent to 473,000," said Phil Baker, AAL managing director.
He said the increase was on the back of more international and domestic flights to Adelaide.
Also, regional services had expanded, particularly Regional Express to Port Lincoln with new operator Alliance serving Olympic Dam and Air South four times a day to Kangaroo Island.
"We anticipate passenger numbers will continue to increase as a result of South Australia's burgeoning defence and mining industries and as we undertake considerable activity to attract new entrants including in the low-cost carrier market," Mr Baker said.
