Air India Plane Catches Fire at Srinagar Airport

On Nov. 12, an Air India plane caught fire soon after landing at the Srinagar airport.
The plane, with only crew on-board, was for an onward flight for 220 Haj pilgrims to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
The Airbus A-300 caught fire as soon as it landed in Srinagar at 11.55 am.
The fire broke out in its left tyre and the crew was rescued immediately, the sources said.
Crew members, including pilot Captain P Sharan jumped off the plane.
Fire engines from Air Force and state fire services doused the leaping flames.
After some time, the fire again started in the plane and fire service personnel put off the blaze, the sources said.
Engineers from Delhi have been called to examine the plane.
