Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) announced on Jan. 9 to put its third runway into service at 8:00 a.m. on Feb. 5.
According to the announcement, the airport will be closed from 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 to 8:00 a.m. on Feb. 5, to make preparation for the opening of its third runway. Concerned airlines are informed to arrange flight schedule, so as to minimize the influence on passengers from the temporary closure of the airport.
The 3rd runway, 3800-meter-long and 60-meter-wide, is a 4F class runway, which can accommodate large wide-body aircraft including world's largest passenger plane Airbus A380 superjumbo.
