Video: American Boeing 787 Makes Test Flight in Seattle
Jan. 22, 2015
The first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for American Airlines (AA) was undergoing test flight in Seattle, getting the airline one step closer to the delivery.
The Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier was supposed to take delivery of its first Dreamliner late last year, but it now expects to take delivery of the jet in the first quarter of 2015.
"As with any first delivery of a new fleet type, there are a number of elements that have to be coordinated before it is introduced to ensure we deliver a state-of-the-art product for our employees and customers. We're working with our partners at Boeing to make it happen," said Matt Miller, spokesman for American.
American has 42 Boeing 787s on order, including 16 787-8s and 26 787-9s, with options for another 58. The airline is scheduled to take delivery of two 787s in 2014, 11 in 2015, 13 in 2016 and nine in 2017.
The 787-8s will replace some of its 767s as part of its fleet renewal plan, said the carrier.
