China Southern Airlines (CZ) Wednesday announced that all flights from and to Nepal are further suspended for the lingering jet fuel crisis in the country.
The Guangzhou-based carrier decided to prolong suspension of its flights from Guangzhou to Kathmandu from Sep. 29 to Nov. 30, 2015, stating that it was unable to fly without refueling at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), the airline said on its Facebook official page.
Citing the crisis of jet fuel, the airport authority on Sep. 29 had barred foreign carriers to refuel at the Kathmandu airport. The tough decision was taken in response to requests made by the Nepal Oil Corporation
On Sep. 29, the Guangzhou-based carrier had temporarily cancelled its Guangzhou-Kathmandu-Guangzhou flights (CZ3067/68 and CZ6067/68) until Oct. 10 due to jet fuel problem in Nepal. The airline then has further extended its cancellation until Oct. 25.
Following China Southern, other Chinese airlines, including China Eastern Airlines (HU) and Dragonair (KA), have suspended flights to Nepal for a temporary period. Air China (CA) didn't cancel the flights to Nepal, but reduced the total traffic load, an airline staff told the reporter.
However, travelers have been criticizing the airlines as they have been frustrated with the flight cancellations at the last hour, according to travel agencies.
China Southern also reminded that any tickets affected by the above flight cancellations will be supported by a full refund or partial refund.
