Passengers aboard this Gulfstream jet were lucky to be alive following this scary brush with death.

The pilot of this Grumann Gulfstream G159 jet radioed into to Air Traffic Control that the crew needed to make an emergency landing minutes after departure from N'Dolo Airport in Kinshasa on Monday.

The plane, which was carrying 22 passengers and four crew , had taken off as normal but was forced to land just 15 miles away after running into difficulty.

According to reports, the 50-year old aircraft, suffered from a landing gear malfunction on take-off and had to dump fuel seconds before it hit the runway on its belly.

In this footage the plane can be seen coming into land on the tarmac at N'Djili International Airport without being able to extend the landing gear due to the mechanical malfunction.

The plane's wings appear to break before it eventually comes to a halt.

The plane's operator Malu Aviation, which was founded in 1993, is banned from flying in the European Union and has been placed on a blacklist because the conditions of its fleet "fall below essential and internationally recognised safety levels."

The domestic passenger airline which also offers charter services has been involved in three other accidents since 1996 resulting in six fatalities.

According to sources, Malu Aviation has just one aircraft left in its fleet and its Grumann Gulfstream G159, which made its first flight in September 1965, is believed to have received "substantial" damage in the crash.
