Xiamen Airlines (MF) has applied for the permission to launch two international passenger services from its hub to Melbourne, Australia and Bali, Indonesia in the first half of 2016.
Pending government approval, the Xiamen-based carrier will use its Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Xiamen-Melbourne route starting June 2016, with three flights weekly, according to an announcement released Thursday on the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
Xiamen Airlines, which is 51 percent owned by China Southern Airlines (CZ), will start its thrice weekly Fuzhou-Sydney service from November 29, followed by the twice-weekly Xiamen-Sydney service on December 5.
Besides, the airline is planned to launch a nonstop service to Bali from next January, using its Boeing 737 aircraft.
The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the application until November 20, 2015.
