GX Airlines (GX), the latest subsidiary of HNA Group, welcomed the first three foreign pilots a few days ago, namely Chris Holland from Canada, Rodrigo Maudonnet from Brazil and Veijo Vaisanen from Finland.
The Nanning-based carrier's move in hiring foreign pilots could not only strengthen the construction of talent team, but also mark an important step helping the airline fly abroad.
When talked about why chose to join GX Airlines, all of three pilots believe it's a great opportunity to grow up together with the start-up carrier and are confident in the future of the airline.
Before joining GX Airlines, the three pilots had worked in foreign airlines, and are experienced and qualified in flying. In addition to the pilot shortage in China, introducing foreign pilots has been domestic carriers' priority choice, which is essential for the internationalization development of GX Airlines.
Previously reported to be called Beibu Gulf Airlines, GX Airlines is a joint venture between HNA Group's Tianjin Airlines (GS) and Beibu Gulf Investment Group with a total registered capital of 3 billion yuan.
The start-up is permitted to operate domestic passenger and cargo flights from its Nanning hub using a fleet of five EMB-190s.
Since its maiden flight from Nanning to Haikou in February 2015, GX Airlines becomes the latest airline in the growing stable of the HNA Group - the Hainan-based parent company of Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Tianjin Airlines and Lucky Air, among others.
