American Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Ecuador

On Nov. 13, an American Airlines jet fly from Miami to Peru made an emergency landing in Ecuador after the pilot reported smelling smoke in the cockpit.
A spokesman for Fort Worth, Texas,-based American says the incident turned out to be a false alarm -- there was no fire.
The plane carried 252 passengers. Nobody was hurt.
The plane was en route from Miami to Lima, Peru, when it landed in the port city of Guayaquil.
