China Provides More Air Flight Lanes
Cargonews Asia | Nov. 23, 2007
The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) has implemented the Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) standard as of November 22, increasing the flight lanes in the height between 8,400m to 12,500m from the original 7 to 13.
CAAC noted that the broadened airspace capacity would help ease flight delays caused by air traffic control.
According to CAAC, broadening the airspace capacity will provide airline companies more flight route resources, but meanwhile it will bring more challenges for the receiving capacity of airports.
It is the third time for China's civil aviation industry to adjust the airspace capacity, which is to reduce the vertical separation on height of 8,400m - 12,500m from the current 600m minimum to 300m minimum.
An official with China Eastern Airlines noted that the company plans to apply for more flight routes once the airspace capacity broadening is carried out by CAAC.
