Australian airline Qantas announced it would fly daily to Beijing between August 4 and August 24, 2008, to carry spectators, officials and athletes to the Beijing Olympic Games.
Qantas Executive General Manager John Borghetti said the move from three to seven services per week during this peak travel period would increase the airline's Beijing capacity by more than 130 percent.
He said Qantas would operate Airbus A330 aircraft, equipped with audio and video on demand in all classes.
Qantas currently operates eight return services a week to the Chinese mainland, including three Beijing-Sydney services as well as five on Sydney-Shanghai route.
"Two additional service between Melbourne and Shanghai will also be commenced in March 2008," Borghetti said.
