Singapore Airlines Announces Management Appointments

The Board of Singapore Airlines is pleased to announce a new service contract for its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chew Choon Seng. The new contract will be for three years, from January 2008 to December 2010, and will supersede the current service contract which was to expire in June 2009.
The Board takes this occasion to thank Mr Chew and his management team for the excellent performance of the Airline in the past four years. Under Mr Chew's leadership, the management team has successfully developed and introduced innovative products and services to keep Singapore Airlines at the forefront of the airline industry, and delivered record profits in the last financial year of 2006-07.
The Board will continue to support the management in meeting the demands of a highly competitive industry and the high expectations of our valued customers.
The Company is also announcing two new management appointments with effect from January 1, 2008.
Mr Mak Swee Wah, currently Senior Vice President Planning, is promoted to Executive Vice President for Operations and Services. He will be in charge of the divisions of Flight Operations, Cabin Crew, Engineering and Products and Services. Mr Mak, age 47, started his career in Singapore Airlines in 1983, and has previously held the posts of General Manager of SilkAir and Senior Vice President for South West Pacific.
Mr Ng Chin Hwee will be joining Singapore Airlines as Executive Vice President for Human Resource and Planning. He will be in charge of all human resource activities, including industrial relations, as well as strategic, fleet and network planning, and IT developments. Mr Ng, 47, first joined Singapore Airlines in 1985. He was Senior Vice President for the Americas until end 2003, when he moved to the Airline's listed subsidiary, SATS, of which he was CEO until last month.
Both Mr Mak and Mr Ng will report to LG (Rtd) Bey Soo Khiang, who will be retitled as Senior Executive Vice President Operations and Planning.
