Japan to Send Aviation Expert to Indonesia
Jan. 24, 2008
The Aircraft and Railway Accidents Investigation Commission of Japan's Transport Ministry will send an expert to Indonesia later this month on a long-term mission to help enhance the Southeast Asian country's expertise in aviation accident investigations, commission officials said on Jan. 23.
The commission sent two experts last year to assess Indonesia's capability to probe the causes of aviation accidents and found that the country lacked expertise in analyzing flight recorders and voice recorders that often provide clues about the causes of accidents, the officials said.
