China's Colorful Guizhou Airlines Starts Operations

Colorful Guizhou Airlines (GY), a start-up regional carrier in Southwest China's Guizhou Province, commenced commercial operations on Thursday, December 31 with its inaugural passenger flight from Guiyang to Bijie.
An Embraer E-190, performing inaugural flight GY7101 with 80 media and VIP passengers onboard, took off from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport (KWE) at 2:30 p.m. and landed safely at Bijie Airport (BFJ) at 3:00 p.m. marking the first and only local airline based in Guizhou Province.
As the first local airline within Guizhou province, the start-up carrier is positioned as a low-cost regional and trunk carrier, said Zhai Yan, Chairman of Colorful Guizhou Airlines. Using its growing fleet of E-190s - set to grow to seven by year-end, the start-up carrier will roll out additional services to Chengdu, Ningbo, Tianjin, Tongren and Zhuhai over the coming weeks.
Colorful Guizhou Airlines welcomed its first two E190 aircraft (B-3115 and B-3116) on December 8 and December 18. It is predicted that the fleet number of the carrier will reach 20 aircrafts by 2020, making it a major local carrier within Guizhou Province.
Colorful Guizhou Airlines was founded on June 19, 2015 with a registered capital of 1 billion yuan. The airline is 95% owned by Guizhou Industrial Investment (Group) Co., Ltd., with the rest 5% stake held by Weining County Construction Investment Group. It will target operating domestic passenger flights to cities in Guizhou and neighboring provinces.
