Ranking of China's Busiest Airports in 2015

Chinese airlines are expected to carry up to 440 million passengers and 6.3 million tonnes of cargo and mail in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 11.4% and 6%, respectively, according to an estimate by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
In 2015, there were altogether 206 civil airports in China, including 26 airports with over 10 million of annual passenger volume. Fuzhou Changle International Airport (FOC) and Nanning Wuyu International Airport (NNG) joined China's 10 million passenger club for the first time.
Besides, nine domestic airports handled over 30 million passengers within the year of 2015, including the new member Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG), which welcomed its 30 millionth passenger for the first time on Dec. 1, 2015.
According to internal statistics, there has been a noticeable change in the rankings of China's busiest airports. Most of the top 10 airports saw a two-digital growth rate except several ones in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) served up to 89.94 million passengers in 2015, which remains the busiest airport in China and the second busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger throughput.
Shanghai's two airports transported up to 99.17 million passengers altogether in 2015, including 60.10 million for Pudong Airport (PVG) and 39.07 million for Hongqiao Airport (SHA), surpassing Beijing again.
PVG has registered a growth of 16.3% in passenger traffic last year, replacing Guangzhou Baiyun international Airport (CAN)'s 55.21 million to be China's 2nd busiest airport.
However, the other Shanghai airport SHA slipped to the sixth from fourth, with only 2.9% passenger growth in 2015.
In the fourth place, up from the fifth, China's fourth busiest is Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU), with 42.24 million, up 12.2% year on year.
Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) has registered a growth of 12.7 percent in passenger traffic to 32.97 million in 2015, surpassing Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) to be China's 8th busiest airport.
Taking the last spot in the top 10, was Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH), where passenger numbers reached 28.35 million, a rise of 11.4% over the same period last year.
Among the top 10 busiest airports, Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG) reported the fastest growth, followed by Shanghai Pudong, with a growth of 16.8%, remaining the 7th spot serving more than 37.65 million passengers in 2015.
Guangzhou had the slowest growth among the top 10 airports, with 0.8% annual growth.
Among all 26 airports in 10-million passenger club, Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG) has achieved great improvement with 19.16 million of passenger volume, lifting ranking by four places.
