Si Xianmin, former chairman of China Southern Airlines, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and removed from office for serious discipline offenses, the ruling Communist Party's graft watchdog said on Wednesday.
Si "severely violated political discipline, and interfered with and hindered investigations," the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement.
Investigations found that Si seriously violated the Party's political discipline, cheating the Party organization and confronting the investigation. He is also the general manager of China Southern Air Holding Company, the state-owned parent of the listed entity.
Si was also accused of violating organizational discipline, accepting assets and cash, benefitting family business and seeking interests for others by taking advantage of his post, as well as not reporting his personal issues to the organization.
China Southern, the country's largest airline by fleet size, predicted its net profits more than double in 2015 amid low fuel prices.
