Sanming Shaxian Airport Opens for Business

Sanming Shaxian Airport, a new regional airport in northwest of Fujian Province, welcomes its first flight and declared the official opening for business on March 7, with the arrival of an Airbus A320 aircraft performing flight HO1109 from Shanghai.
Flight HO1109, operated by Juneyao Airlines, departed from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 8:55 a.m. and landed at Sanming Airport at 10:37 a.m., marking its very first flight and the seventh civilian airport in Fujian Province.
The Shanghai-based carrier said that the Shanghai-Sanming flights will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Built in line with Category 4C standard, the airport features a single 2600m x 45m runway and a 6000sqm terminal with capacity to handle 430,000 passengers p/a by 2020.
Depending on market, Juneyao Airlines plans to increase flight frequency on Shanghai-Sanming route to daily, as well as extend the service to Shenzhen.
Meanwhile, Sanming Airport is also in talks with other domestic airlines to open more scheduled routes linking the city to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Chengdu and Shenyang.
