India's low-cost carrier IndiGo took delivery of Asia's first A320neo aircraft at Delhi International Airport on Friday from European plane maker Airbus, becoming the second operator of the eco-friendly model.
The new ecofriendly A320neo, equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, "produces lower emissions, burns less fuel and keeps skies clean," the airline tweeted.
IndiGo will receive its second A320neo next week. On February 29, IndiGo said Airbus had confirmed that it will deliver 24 fuel efficient A320neo aircraft by March 2017.
IndiGo has 430 A320neo on order, the largest customer for the re-engined jet. It was originally scheduled to receive its first aircraft last December. The airline then said the delivery of the first fuel-efficient A320neo had been delayed and there could be additional delays, citing "industrial reasons" at Airbus.
Lufthansa became the first operator of A320neo in January while launch customer Qatar Airways is yet to accept the planes.
