China Airlines today announced that its first two A350 XWB aircraft are named "Mikado Pheasant" and "Taiwan Blue Magpie", very rare birds found only in Taiwan's mountain areas.
Meanwhile, a special livery design for the first A350 is unveiled. China Airlines said all of its 14 A350s will bear a special livery.
The Taipei-based carrier is scheduled to take delivery of the first A350-900 in July. It has completed assembly and is now in the process of having cabin seating installed and aircraft livery applied. Meanwhile, the assembly of the second A350 has also begun.
China Airlines' A350 is configured with 306 seats in three cabin classes, including Premium Business (32 seats), Premium Economy (31 seats) and Economy Class (243 seats) with Family Couch.
The airline has 14 A350-900s on order, which will join the 10 Boeing 777-300ER as the mainstays of China Airlines' long-haul services.
China Airlines plans to begin flying the new A350 aircraft to Amsterdam, Rome and Vienna in December.
