An Okay Airways cargo plane slid off a runway in Guangzhou early Wednesday while getting ready to fly its inaugural flight to Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.
The Boeing 737-300 cargo plane performing flight BK3024 was scheduled to depart Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport around 4:09 a.m. Wednesday when the incident occurred, according to Okay Airways.
There were two pilots on board at the time, neither of whom were injured, the airline said in a statement.
Those on board were intact, which have been taken off the plane and bused to a terminal.
The 737-300 freighter, Registration B-2117, was firstly delivered in October 1991, before being transferred to Okay Airways in December 2006 on leasing.
The Tianjin-based carrier launched the Guangzhou-Xi'an cargo route on April 26.
The runway was closed for four hours from 6:00 a.m. affected by the incident.
Guangzhou Airport reopened the runway at 10:00 a.m. after the cargo plane was removed.
It was not immediately known why the plane was unable to stop before it reached the end of the runway.
The authorities are investigating.
