Hainan Airlines has launched China's first nonstop flight to Israel, with flight HU7957 taking off from Beijing Capital International Airport at 1:55 a.m. on April 28 and reaching Tel Aviv at 8:10 a.m. local time, the second largest city in Israel.
The Haikou-based carrier plans to operate the Beijing-Tel Aviv route thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, using Airbus A330 jets. The outbound flight is scheduled to depart from Beijing at 1:55 a.m. and land in Tel Aviv at 7:15 a.m., with the return flight HU7958 leaving Tel Aviv at 1:25 p.m. and reaching Beijing at 5:00 a.m. the next day (all local times).
Chinese actor Liu Ye, which was honored as Tourism Ambassador for Israel, attended a celebrating ceremony of the inaugural Beijing-Tel Aviv flight in Beijing. Liu said:" Go to Israel, take Hainan Airlines flight."
Hainan Airlines will compete with Israel's El Al airlines on Beijing-Tel Aviv route, which previously had monopoly on it.
There has been a long history of friendly exchanges and economic cooperation between Israel and China, which have grown since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative. The opening of the nonstop flight between Beijing and Tel Aviv will boost deeper cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, science and technology and tourism.
