At 11:05 p.m. on April 27, a China Southern Airlines Airbus A380 Superjumbo landed safely on the new runway of Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, marking A380's first appearance at the airport.
The two passenger jets including the A380 superjumbo and a Boeing 737 conducted testing for landing at the new runway, which marks it is ready for takeoff on June 23.
Wuhan airport has started constructing a new 3,600-meter long, 60-meter wide runway since August 2013, which is capable of accommodating the world's largest wide-body A380 superjumbo.
Upon the parallel operations of the two runways, Wuhan airport can handle 40 million passengers and 440,000 tonnes of cargo & mail annually by 2020, becoming the first dual-runway airport in Central China.
