China Southern Plans Daily Shenzhen-Melbourne Service

China Southern Airlines has submitted an application to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for launching a nonstop daily service from Shenzhen to Melbourne, Australia in September 2016.
Pending government approval, the Guangzhou-based carrier will operate the daily Shenzhen-Melbourne service using Airbus A330/Boeing 787/777-300ER aircraft, according to an announcement released Friday on the CAAC's official website.
On February 1, Air China launched its first international service from the city - Shenzhen-Beijing-Los Angeles route. The flag carrier also applied for a daily Shenzhen-Melbourne service in October.
The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the application until May 9, 2016.
