A Hainan Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport early morning on April 29 after a Chinese passenger was found dead in the plane's bathroom, TASS reported.
Flight HU7937, which was flying from Beijing to Prague, the Czech Republic, was forced to land at Sheremeteyvo International Airport in Moscow at 10: 00 a.m. Beijing Time, after a medical emergency was declared.
The deceased man, born in 1950, was a member of a Chinese tour group, the report said. His wife reportedly said he was suffering from heart disease, and preliminary checks by doctors have confirmed he died of acute heart failure.
Hainan Airlines has confirmed the incident on its Weibo official account.
"Our crew did everything they could onboard but unfortunately the passenger passed away before the flight landed," the Haikou-based carrier said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the passenger's family."
Russian authorities are investigating, while the Chinese Embassy in Russia has also sent officials to help with the investigation.
