Video: Father Becomes Marshaller at Son's Last Flight
Jun. 01, 2016
Derk Somson, joining in KLM since 1981, worked as Boeing 777 Captain before his retirement lately.
Recently, he's captaining his last landing for KLM at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Derk always wishes his father could stand in as the marshaller and give the "set brakes" signal on his last flight.
And, his dream comes true, with a wonderful way to close what has been a very rich chapter for both of him and his father with KLM.
"This is really something, and it speaks volumes about the culture and values at KLM and Schiphol - to fulfill a captain's wish and recognize a family that has worked for the airline through two generations," joaopestana said on reddit.com.
