Shanghai Pudong Airport Tightens Security Checks After Blast

Shanghai Pudong International Airport has tightened security checks on travelers and their luggage after blasts by suspected homemade explosives on Sunday afternoon.
Every passenger and their luggage will be inspected once they entered the terminal buildings, the authority said.
The blast happened at 2:20 p.m. when "suspected homemade explosive material" exploded at the "C" check-in area at the airport's Terminal 2, injuring four passengers, the airport authorities and media reports said.
The Pudong New Area People's Hospital has received four people injured from the blasts, including one seriously injured, the hospital said in a statement.
A man, looking about 30 years old, was seriously injured to the jugular vein in the neck after being sent to the hospital by ambulance at around 3:00 p.m., the hospital said. Over 10 doctors were rescuing the injurer.
The other two men and a woman suffered slight injuries on head, hand, leg and buttock, the hospital said.
Passengers are advised to arrive earlier to allow sufficient time for passport control and security procedures. "Please arrive 120 minutes prior to departure of your domestic flights and 3-4 hours before departure time for international flights," Shanghai Airport Authority said.
