The world's newest airliner, the Airbus A350 XWB, will make its first demo tour of China between October 29 and November 8, Airbus announced Thursday morning in Bejing.
The A350 test aircraft, MSN002, outfitted with a cabin interior, will fly to Haikou, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu during the 11 day trip.
Specifically, the A350 XWB will make its debut at China Air Show 2016 in Zhuhai on November 1-2 for both static display and dynamic flying demonstration.
Featuring a distinctive "Carbon" signature livery to reflect its primary construction from advanced materials, the A350-900 (MSN002) is one of five A350 XWB prototypes and one of two with a fully functional cabin (42 business class and 210 economy class seats). The flights will be operated by Airbus flight crews.
Currently, Chinese airlines have ordered 30 A350-900s - 20 from China Eastern Airlines and 10 from Air China. Besides, Sichuan Airlines has also leased four A350-900s from AerCap and Air Lease Corp. Airbus is scheduled to deliver the first A350-900 to mainland China in the second half of 2017. China is one of the fastest growing markets for air transport and Airbus has supplied 50 percent of the in-service commercial aircraft fleet in China.
Meanwhile, Chinese aviation industry has made important contributions to the development and making of the A350 XWB. Airbus (Beijing) Engineering Centre together and its partner Aviation Industry Corporation of China participated in the programme's development, involving specific design work for the airframe. Some five percent of the airframe is manufactured in China.
To date, Airbus has recorded some 810 firm orders for the A350 XWB from 43 customers worldwide.
