Haikou to Offer 200 Million Yuan in Subsidies for More Air Routes

Haikou, capital city of South China's Hainan Province will grant a subsidy of 200 million yuan to the local airport and 37 domestic and international airlines. The subsidy will be allocated to support the launch of new air routes.
According to the government of Haikou city, China Southern Airlines will get the most with about 26.12 million yuan, followed by Hainan Airlines with 25.43 yuan.
Haikou airport has seen an increase of 16% in passenger throughput this year. And it expects to handle 18.6 million passengers in 2016, more than doubling than 8 million in 2010. With the operation of T2, Haikou airport will achieve a milestone record of 35 million passengers in 2025.
The local government hopes the rewards could attract more airlines to launch new services to the city and enhance local tourism.
