Video: Cargo Plane Catches Fire on Takeoff at Beijing Airport

An engine fire broke out on a Fedex Federal Express cargo jet as it took off from Beijing Capital International Airport on December 1.
The cargo plane McDonnel Douglas MD-11, Registration N608FE performing freight flight FX5924 from Beijing to Seoul, departed Beijing's runway 36R at 10:20 p.m. when the crew stopped the climb at a height of 100 meters reporting the failure of the #1 engine (CF6, left hand), according to Air Traffic Management Bureau of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC/ATMB).
The control tower immediately notified streaks of flame from the #1 engine to the flight crew who then checked and returned to Beijing for a safe landing.
The cargo plane eventually landed safely on runway 01 at 10:34 p.m., about 14 minutes after departure.
During the 14 minutes, sixty-five other planes on the ground or in the air were ordered to wait or hover for further order.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Beijing for maintenance.
