Wrongly Accused Pilot Gets Payout Lift
Feb. 15, 2008
An Algerian pilot who spent five months in jail wrongly accused of training 9/11 hijackers won the right to claim compensation from the British government in a legal ruling on Feb. 14.
Lotfi Raissi, 33, was arrested in London 10 days after the 2001 attacks and held at the high-security Belmarsh prison.
Even though the allegations against him were proved false, Raissi told the Court of Appeal he is now blacklisted from all airline jobs and his life has been ruined.
