Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) is in the process of upgrading the information technology system at the check-in counters at the Bayan Lepas International Airport to give comfort to travellers.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the system would be used at the 31 existing counters and 31 new ones which would start operation on February 18.
"We have been using this system at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and we are confident that this will help MAB to increase revenue and to save operational cost," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of memorandum of understanding between MAB and ICT technology company, SITA Inc on February 15.
Chan said the new system would increase the check-in efficiency at the airport from 2,000 passengers an hour to 2,900.
SITA is a fully-owned subsidiary of Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
