Ryanair will base two new aircraft at Edinburgh airport serving 19 routes from what will become the 27th hub for Europe's biggest low-cost airline.
The carrier said in a statement on Feb. 28 that the two Boeing 737-800 aircraft, worth US$140 million, will be based in Edinburgh from September and will serve routes to countries including France, Poland, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Germany.
"These new routes will deliver 1.2 million passengers (a year) who will generate an annual visitor spend of over 100 million pounds (US$198.3 million) and sustain 1,200 jobs in Edinburgh and East Scotland," the airline said.
