Upon the Chinese New Year Eve, Hainan Airlines unveiled its second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in a Kung Fu Panda livery at its Haikou hangar.

The 787-9, Registration B-6998, is painted with 11 pandas in different postures.

On January 26, the Dreamliner took its inaugural passenger flight HU7181 from Haikou to Beijing.

In June 2016, Hainan Airlines reached a new collaboration with DreamWorks Animation to feature the "Kung Fu Panda" film franchise on six 787-9 Dreamliners, delivered in 2016-2017, which provides nonstop service between China and seven North American destinations.
