Pilot Injured When Light Plane Crashlands in Central Philippines

On April 5, a Cessna 172 light plane crashlanded within the vicinity of the Mactan International Airport in Cebu, central Philippines, seriously injuring its pilot, a Cebu airport official and the Air Transportation Office said.
Agnes Udang of Mactan airport in Cebu said the single-engine plane took off from Cebu early on April 5 and was on way to Ormoc, Leyte in southeastern Philippines, when its pilot decided to crashland his plane inside the perimeter of Mactan.
The four-seater plane incurred engine trouble while being airborne, forcing its pilot to make emergency landing at Mactan, said the official.
Rescuers rushed the pilot to a nearby hospital for serious injuries caused by impact of the crash that damaged his aircraft, said the official.
