A Peruvian airline passenger who said he wanted to read a manifesto over the aircraft's sound system tried to enter the cockpit of a domestic flight by force, according to state news agency Andina.
The man on an Aerocondor flight between Arequipa and Lima on April 18 threatened the lives of passengers and crew if he was not allowed to speak with Peru's President Alan Garcia, the news agency said.
The passenger, identified as Wilbert Vivanco Farfan, 47, was subdued by the crew 15 minutes before the plane landed in Lima. Police found a Swiss Army knife in Vivanco's luggage when he was detained upon landing.
Airport police told the Associated Press on April 19 that they were not authorized to provide more details about the incident.
