Jetstar, a key player in the Australian LCC market, has recently announced its plan to introduce a thrice-weekly service between Gold Coast and Seoul, which the carrier claims to be the first low-fare direct air link between Australia and South Korea, according to information gathered by ChinaAviationDaily.com.
Subject to regulatory approval, Jetstar, in a codeshare partnership with South Korean low cost carrier Jeju Air, will operate flights on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operating from the Gold Coast three times per week from Dec. 8, 2019. Planned schedules show flight JQ49 will depart Gold Coast at 13:20 on Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays with return flight JQ50 set to leave Seoul at 23:30 on the same days.
The airline predicts that this new service will be bringing more than 50,000 visitors annually and injecting more than AU$170 million to the local economy in Queensland.
