China Aviation Daily | Feb. 27, 2020
TravelSky Technology Limited (TravelSky) and Berjaya Hotel & Resorts have announced the successful implementation and Go Live of the QUICK Passenger Retailing Solution to power connectivity by air to Berjaya Hotels & Resorts properties on Redang Island. Flights can be booked as of today via the web site https://www.thetaaras.com/fly-me-away and other designated channels. The flights will allow a fast and efficient connection between Kuala Lumpur and Redang Island, ideal for a weekend getaway or short break.
The flights will be operated on board a comfortable ATR42 aircraft, starting from Kuala Lumpur's City airport Subang Skypark Terminal. The experience will be hassle free and swift thanks to the efficient airport facilities and lounge areas in Subang. The flight time is just a little over 1 hour. The flights will be managed and operated by Berjaya Air (J8) which allows for flexible schedule adjustments in case of high demands. Berjaya Hotels & Resorts manages two properties on the island, The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort and the Redang Island Resort. "With the flight connection, we can shorten the travel time to our wonderful resorts on the island of Redang. Previously a flight or drive up to the ferry port was necessary and travel could take as long as 5.5 hours, it is now possible to reach the hotels via air in a bit more than one hour by flight." said Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Foo Toon Kee. Berjaya Hotels & Resorts started the sale with attractive packages combining hotels and flights which are now bookable on its website. In the future digitalization will be in focus to combine the offering of hotel rooms and flight arrangements to a greater audience via various sales channels. "We have chosen QUICK, as we saw that it is well designed for our needs and open to deeply integrate to our hotel systems, allowing us to effectively manage our inventory. Where we are primary providing seamless travel experience to our resort guests, we are also offering seats on our flights to individuals, hence need the capabilities to ensure that our flights are bookable and that we can work like a normal airline." added Mr. Foo.
The concept of QUICK allows airlines to build their own data ecosystem next to the comprehensive inbuilt capabilities, as the system design allows access to all data stored in QUICK, which can be exported in real or almost real time. QUICK is considered an "open system" in regards of its capabilities and willingness to connect to different, best of bread, third party systems. On this note Lars Gaebler, Director Marketing and Sales of QUICK said: "This is a case of a good cooperation between a hotel inventory system and an airline system. QUICK is set up in a way, that it can link to third party systems easily and we are looking forward to implement the dynamic packaging concept further with the team in Berjaya." With the current Corona Virus outbreak these are challenging times for the travel and tourism industry and it is a good sign of confidence among all stakeholders that the current problems can be overcome and planning for the future must go on. "Both teams have worked great together from start of the project to now and I believe that the future cooperation will allow QUICK to gain much insight in putting together Offers consisting of flight items and non-flight items. It is also the first time that our QUICK PASS (Departure Control System) will be used outside of China, which is very exciting for our QUICK PASS team. We think that we have the right mix of service delivery and product flexibility to be a trustworthy partner to international airlines of all sizes" added Lars Gaebler.
With start of selling Berjaya Hotel & Resorts has outlined its initial low season schedule with 2 weekly frequencies, which will increase to 5 weekly flight in peak season and additional flights if demand requires it.
