As economic activities start to resume amid the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic, China Southern Airlines, the largest airline by fleet size in Asia, has resumed more than 60 percent of its domestic flights by Thursday.

The gradual resumption of flights has been based on the assessment of the different levels of epidemic risk in various destinations, with average daily flights planned to increase to about 1,000 next month, according to the airline.

Between Feb 1 and 27, China Southern carried out 2,251 international flights. The only direct flight from the Chinese mainland to Nairobi, the Guangzhou-Nairobi flight, resumed on Wednesday.

In facilitating production resumption across the country, China Southern had by Thursday planned 37 chartered flights for moving workers to the cities they work in, with more such flights planned to start soon.
