The Number of Daily Flights Rebounds to over 10,000
CAAC | May 29, 2020
On May 15, China's civil aviation sector operated 10,262 flights, which was about 60 per cent of the number before the COVID-19 outbreak. It is the first time that the number of flights in a single day crossed the mark of 10,000 since February 1.
Affected by the outbreak, both the passenger traffic and number of flights have dropped sharply since January 23. On February 13, the number of daily flights fell to the lowest level since the outbreak of COVID-19 at 3,931, which was about 23% of the number during the normal period. As the outbreak has leveled off across the country, and with the support of relevant policies of the State Council and CAAC, civil aviation transport has gradually recovered since late February. The number of average daily flights stood at 6,538 in March, 6,950 in April and 8,900 in May.
