On Aug. 12, a small plane crashed on a freeway in California in the morning, hitting a car and killing one person on the plane, officials said.
The accident occurred at 8:05 a.m. when the plane tried to land on the westbound Interstate 40, about 15 kilometers west of Needles, a city near the California-Arizona border, according to U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman Ian Gregor.
The spokesman said one person on board the experimental, homebuilt-type plane was killed, but did not say whether the victim was the pilot or a passenger.
It was not immediately known whether the car's occupants were injured.
