Japan: FTC Warns ANA Not to Run Misleading Ads for New Premium Class Seats
Japan Today | Aug. 26, 2008
The Fair Trade Commission warned All Nippon Airways Co on Aug. 25 not to run misleading advertisements on its new domestic business-class service.
The FTC said the airline's ads in newspapers between February and March for the new service, launched on Apr. 1, showed a new type of seat for its premium class, but the type of seat was not actually available until Jun. 1.
To compete head-on with archrival Japan Airlines Co, ANA upgraded its business-class service by expanding the space between seats and offering a light meal.
But ANA offered the new service by either using the seats of super seat premium, the previous version of its business-class service, or modifying the seats, between April and May, according to the FTC.
