Nepali President Expresses Grief for Dead in Lukla Airport Accident

Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav has expressed his grief on the demise of persons who lost their lives in the accident that was met by the twin-otter of Yeti Airlines at Lukla airport of Solukhumbu on the morning of Oct. 8.
According to the National News Agency RSS Oct. 9's report, the president has extended heartfelt condolences to aggrieved family members and expressed best wishes for early and full recovery of pilot of the plane who got injured in the accident.
The Nepali government has formed a five-member investigation commission to investigate into the accident.
A Nepal Yeti Airlines domestic plane on the morning of Oct. 8 caught fire while landing at Lukla airport, east of Nepali capital Kathmandu.
Mohan Adhikari, general manager of Nepali Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport on behalf of the related Nepali aviation authority, said at a press conference that 18 people died in the accident.
Lukla airport is a gateway to Mt. Qomolangma (Mt. Everest), some 140 km east of Kathmandu.
