Air France Staff Calls for Five-Day Strike
Oct. 31, 2008
Air France staff have called for a five-day national strike to protest against a proposal to push back their retirement age, a workers union said on Oct. 31.
The strike will take place from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8. Eight unions at Air France will be involved, the General Confederation of Labor Union said on Oct. 31.
The proposal, which is to be put to a vote in the National Assembly on Oct. 31, would require aircrew members to work up to 65 years old, instead of 60 for pilots and 55 for flight attendants.
The unions said they would stage a longer walkout if the retirement plan is not withdrawn.
