Jet Goes Off Runway in Denver, Injuring Some 40 People

On Dec. 20, a plane carrying 107 passengers and five crew members went off the runway during take-off from the Denver International Airport and caught fire at night, injuring nearly 40 people, reports from Denver, Colorado, said.
For now, at least 36 people were taken to local hospitals. But there were no reports of either death or serious injuries in the accident.
The Boeing 737 plane, belonging to the Continental Airlines, was heading to Houston, Texas, before the accident.
Part of the airport was closed after the accident, and some flights were delayed, according to airport officials.
