Nov. 05, 2008
In order to upgrade overall ground service quality and add to the comprehensive skill set of terminal personnel, Air China began lessons for its 2008 Annual Comprehensive Quality Training for airport terminal personnel.
On November 4, 2008, Air China's Senior Vice President, Yang Lihua, personally delivered lessons to terminal personnel who were chosen by a rigid selection process involving a qualifying entrance exam.
Yang Lihua explained that the terminal is an indispensable part in the operation of the entire company. It has been increasingly receiving the attention of the company while playing an important role in the strategy of the company's hub network construction.
Air China's hub network strategy can only work if it is supported by world-class ground services. The improvement of the operational quality of the terminal services has been receiving growing concerns. The key to making Air China's hub network a maneuverable product lies in improved ground service management and an upgraded quality of terminal staff.
Therefore, Air China needs to reinforce quality training for terminal employees and construct a team of professional ground services personnel.
Yang emphasized the importance of terminal personnel having the ability to perform effectively under difficult conditions by skillfully supervising key issues concerning passengers and luggage. These requirements must be met in order to improve the quality of ground service work, and support the operation of the company's hub network.
She also stated that ground service management should actively increase their understanding of the company's operation, and constantly improve management and communications to more effectively lead terminal personnel while managers should continue to improve their English skills and coordination abilities so they can play a more purposeful role in the supervisory function.
Moreover, the team as a whole should continue to upgrading their services to ensure a safe and punctual operation within the Air China terminal, constantly improving the management process of the company's ground services, and making a big effort to build Air China into a better airline.
